In the meantime, as we draw closer to summer, many people are thinking about vacation. A few years back the term “staycation” became popular as a way of encouraging people to explore the attractions in their hometown. With COVID 19, staycation has taken on a new meaning: exploring destinations from the comfort of your home. Below are some ways you and your family can see some new sites and start planning where you’d like to go when self-isolation comes to an end.

Take a Tour of Famous Museums—thanks to Google Arts and Culture (https://artsandculture.google.com/) you and your family can tour art museums in the U.S. and abroad. You can also explore the works of individual artists and do your own fun art projects based on the masters.

What’s Happening at the Aquarium and the Zoo? Many animal hotspots are offering peeks via live cams into the habitats of sea and land creatures. Watch seals get fed, penguins wander around the halls of the aquarium, and pandas nibble on bamboo. The Smithsonian Zoo, San Diego Zoo, The Georgia Aquarium, and the Tropical Reef Aquarium in Long Beach, CA are a few to try.

Let’s Go to Disney World—This is a vacation dream for many families. You’ll find a ton of free Disney resources online from coloring pages to recipes. You can even experience some of Disney’s thrilling rides. Search YouTube for Disney Rides and choose your favorites.

Thanks to the internet you can go “virtually” anywhere you wish! Let each family member take a turn choosing a destination they would like to visit and enjoy exploring together. It’s fun and you may even sneak in a little education after “distance learning” hours.
